This option is used to replace all the teeth on either the lower or upper jaw, and is placed in the roof of the mouth. They are also able to achieve increased stability and increased retentive strength due to maximum load spread across a larger surface area. Stability depends on the underlying tissues and health of the bone. Upper denture retention is mostly achieved by suction.

This type is placed immediately after the patient's teeth are extracted. They are constructed prior to the removal of the tooth in a lab, and will need an additional appointment prior to the removal of the tooth/teeth. As they are fitted over the sockets after extraction, they can also sometimes protect the exposed sockets during the healing period.

This type provides stronger retention and is sometimes known as a long-term, fixed form of teeth replacement. Dental implants are small titanium posts that are strategically inserted into the patient's jawbone to serve as anchors for added support. Although the more costlier option, the denture is anchored to the implant – that is fused to the jawbone through a process known as osseointegration – they are fixed in place, helping to reduce shifting or sliding from position.

If you have only a few missing teeth, this may be an alternative option. They fill in the spaces left by lost or missing teeth and are attached to your natural teeth sometimes with metal or acrylic clasps or devices called precision attachments. The denture connects the replacement tooth or teeth to a bridge-like metal or acrylic framework. They are usually less expensive, compared to their fixed counterpart, however not as stable.
